What is a live-in carer?

Working as a live-in carer would involve the following duties including (but not limited) to:

Staying at the house of the individual (client) in need of care 24hours in respect to the allocated time of care needed.

  • Assisting with any personal care needs
  • Providing companionship and support
  • Washing, dressing, maintenance of their appearance
  • Shopping
  • Cooking
  • Assisting with light housekeeping duties
  • Arranging trips out
  • Taking them to doctors and hospital appointments

Live-in care packages will vary from providing companionship care through to providing palliative end of life care. Live-in carer pay rates will vary accordingly depending upon the care package.

It takes a unique kind of person to become a live-in or Visiting carer. You need to be compassionate, you must be able and ready to work in a professional and discreet manner, ensure that respect and dignity for the customer is always maintained. Above all, ensuring there’s provision of person-centred care and high willingness to make a positive difference to people’s lives.

What does a Visiting Carer do?

The aim of Visiting care is to enable customers can remain in their homes with as much independence as possible. You will be responsible for various tasks, shopping, housekeeping, administering medication and personal care. You will typically be expected to carry out everyday jobs such as cleaning essential areas, cooking, washing and running errands in accordance to individual care package.

You should be able to deliver companionship to the person in your care – and this is often the most valuable form of support for those who are feeling isolated because of an illness or disability.

Hours and shifts

We provide care daily over a 7-day period, including Bank Holidays from 7am to 9pm

  • Work is mostly split into 2 daily shifts – Morning and Lunch, Tea and Bedtimes.
  • Care staff are required to work every other weekend or one day every weekend
  • We have full and part-time positions available
  • To apply for a Visiting Carer job with PNHomecare, you must meet the following criteria:
  • You must have the Right to Work in the UK.
  • Be a car owner with a clean & full driving licence.
  • We accept applications from experienced Carers as well as individuals who want to work in care for the first time
  • You must have excellent communication skills, and a fluent understanding of verbal and written English
